There are three basic types of lottery businesses you can start, each with its niche and audience. Whether you’re interested in owning a local business or just want to earn some extra income, the lottery industry can provide plenty of opportunities to make money doing what you enjoy most. Here are three types of lottery businesses you can start and the pros and cons of each one.

1) National jackpots

There are three types of lottery businesses: national, regional, and local. National lotteries involve people from all 50 states or more. Regional lotteries have people from different regions within a state, like the Texas lottery. Local lotteries are for smaller areas like towns or counties and may only be available to certain age groups like children’s lotteries in some areas. All you need to do is find out what type of lottery is offered where you live and research what other opportunities exist in your area. Maybe running a small-scale business locally will suit you better. Many people can’t afford to start their brick-and-mortar store, but they can afford to buy several thousand dollars worth of tickets at once and resell them at their convenience. For example, if I were to invest $2000 into tickets for our county fair every year for 30 years starting at the age of 20, that would add up to over $300K in revenue by the time I retired!

2) State lotteries

Lotteries have been around since the time of Ancient Greece, so it’s fair to say that lotteries are a timeless business. In the U.S., state lotteries exist to provide entertainment, fund educational programs, and provide revenue for public works. There are three types of lottery businesses in the U.S.: private lotteries, commercial lotteries, and charitable lotteries.

Heard about these types of lotteries? The odds might be against you when it comes to state lotteries, but with this information, you can decide what type of game suits your needs!
